not a great starters book
I read this book and within 3 days i returned it to the bookstore. This book firstly has a lot of typos. Then again it is not a great book for beginers in this field. If you want to get A+ certified and have very little prior knowledge of computer hardware then this book is not for you. If you want to know which book is good then buy the 'A+ Certification Exam Guide -- Michael Meyers, Michael Myers; Hardcover'. ITs got lots of pictures and cartoons and explains the whole thing very very intuitively. Also im not sure if the Microsoft book covers the new 1998 exam changes. 1999-08-04
Very elementry
This is the most elementry book on the subject I have seen. It is hard to believe that it could prepare one for the exam. Few questions; useless CDIf a person is just starting and doesn't want to be overwhelmed by his first book, however, it is clear and understandable

THIS IS A TEXT BOOK NOT A STUDY GUIDE....
Myers book is a reference book, Microsoft book is a text book, and the Dummies book is another cram. I think that Muller Upgrading and Repairing Pcs make a better work than this book. If you dont have pc repairing, maintaining or troubleshooting experience, i recommend clases or intensive trainning in real scenarios. Otherwise, the road is hard!!! 1999-07-24
A good book for A+ exam and reference
Overall, this book is a very good study guide for the A+ Core/Windows exams. This was the only book that I bought and I passed both exams with no problems. I didn't give it 5 stars because of several typos/mistakes. Amazing that a book could have simple spelling mistakes with all of the spell check programs which are now available! The book will also make a good reference book for the future. I would also recommend checking out the cramsession.com web site for excellent study notes and links to practice tests. Excellent!!
I started without any previous computer knowledge. This book gave me all I needee to pass my A+ core exam. I took the exam on monday(07/12/99) and made 84%. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be initiated into the field. 1999-07-14
